Wedding decorations from the wedding cake to the wedding reception, should you attempt to do it yourself and save?

Many are down on funds and weddings aren’t getting any cheaper. Prices continue to rise and all to often future couples are trying to cut the wrong costs. When planning a wedding, make your day special and save big by investing a little of your creative time to cover some of the wedding decorations and arrangements. However, leave some of the wedding planning to the professional wedding planners. Some wedding arrangements aren’t made for the do it yourself approach.

Saving money is always important, but cutting the wrong corners can end up
costing a couple a lot more. Below are some items that should not be attempted
by the bride & groom. Instead hire the appropriate professional and save
yourself a lot of headache.

Can you make this with ease? If not, consider a professional wedding cake baker.

Wedding Cake: It may seem simple enough, a great idea comes
to mind and big savings are ahead. Make your own wedding cake, with your own
personal design. Not off to a good start, this is a bad idea. Wedding cakes
are always the main attraction at a reception, the center of attention. The
cake must look extraordinary, impressive and stylish. In addition, taste is
of utmost importance. A wedding cake bakery is highly skilled and professional.
Did you ever watch ‘Cake Boss’ on TV? That’s the kind of establishment you want
making your wedding cake. Cutting corners with this item is always one of the
worst decisions any bride & groom can make.

Hiring a professional florist for wedding flowers is a good idea

Bridal Flowers & Floral Arrangements: Even if you are
an avid gardener you really don’t want to take this one on. Going green is a
big deal these days but don’t try to put on a green thumb for your wedding day.
Flowers and floral arrangements must be kept at precise temperatures, in a controlled environment, until the moment comes where they are to be used as bouquets for bridesmaids and decor for reception tables, and let’s not forget the traditional wedding boutonnieres and corsage arrangements. Not convinced? Imagine what we’ve seen at dozens of weddings where this route was taken. Flowers bending over on reception tables, looking like U-Turn street signs and petals falling off, onto dishes on the table. Half-dead bouquets, and more. It is an enormous undertaking and should be left to the florist who has the proper training and skills, and the support of staff to handle all the arrangements.

Wedding Planner: OK! Maybe you’ll pass on this one, it can
be another large cost and it’s tough to find a wedding planner / coordinator
that actually knows what they’re doing. All too often wedding planners are ‘self
pro-claimed’ professionals of the industry. Make sure they are, check references
and check with your state or local jurisdiction to ensure they are licensed
and insured. Wait! Don’t stop here, keep reading. There is a plus side to all
this. A legitimate wedding planner can take away any headaches you run into
with all of the wedding preparations that are involved in making that perfect
marriage begin. A wedding planner is like a coach, keeping everyone in their
place and making sure every part of the wedding celebration goes exactly as
planned. Those in the industry often work under extreme pressure and handle
very stressful situations, but don’t worry, you can bet they have a unique contingency plan for everything from missing wedding party members to an accidental stain on your wedding dress. When wedding planning goes this way, the bride usually makes all the decisions, but the wedding planner does all the work and relieves a lot of stress and hardship. There’s enough to worry about, consider passing some of it to a third party and save yourself the heartache.

Elegant or simple, it really doesn't matter. Only your happiness does.

Reception Dinner: Yes, the tradition at a wedding is to have
a wonderful dinner fit for a king, but some have different arrangements for
their marriage ceremony and instead offer breakfast, lunch or even a late night
meal. Regardless, the food needs to be fantastic. Food served at the reception
fits right in like a puzzle piece with that gorgeous wedding cake. Some serve
food through a catering company and others through the hall itself. That doesn’t
mean you have to do it this way, but however you do it you want the right people
in place, they must know their food like you know the back of your hand! This
means professionally prepared food and serving of this food in a professional
manner. Maybe you know someone with a great restaurant, or maybe you’re in with a catering company, but either way just don’t try and do it yourself. Instead,
you decide on the menu and any extras like little snacks or appetizers but let
them do the work, including the clean-up after the reception.

Wedding photographers use professional equipment that offers much better quality imaging

Wedding Photographer: I can tell you from my own wedding that
we considered skipping this expense, but thank God we didn’t! Although friends
& family will take many pictures and video on their own, nobody can capture
the most special moments like a wedding photographer. There were so many photos shared with us during the weeks after our wedding ceremony but none of them expressed the joy and love for each other like the pictures taken by our photographer. We actually used a company in our area called Photos
By Rick and they are based in Tinley Park, IL. – directly recommended by Favors Depot – probably not near you but if they are you certainly want to check them out (and paying a little extra to have ‘Rick’ take your photos exclusively is well worth the tiny additional fee).

In summary, paying for some of your wedding decorations, planning and arrangements really is worth the additional expense. Not only that, it offers you peace of mind and helps make your special wedding day worry free. Oh, speaking of decorations, we never went over the wedding favors, be sure to include those too!

In marriage, brides and grooms come from all walks of life. Different race, different religion, different traditions. Incorporate wedding traditions in your wedding to make it unique.

Our world consists of many cultures and traditions

We live in a large world, full of traditions and varying religions. People come from all different countries and all walks of life. We are all raised in different ways and taught different traditions from religion to personal values. When two people fall in love and commit to each other marriage is often the next step, but with so many wedding traditions the planning can quickly become a battle of wills when it comes to deciding on the planning of the wedding ceremony and reception. By combining cultures from both the bride and groom into one joint tradition the bridal party can easily come to agreement and learn more about each others way of life.

Meet in the middle and become one

Your own culture (and even religion) may be the complete opposite of your future spouse, but opposites attract and combining traditions can make a very unique wedding ceremony or reception come together quite nicely, in a very unique way that is sure to impress any guest at your event. Learn as much as you can about her or about him. Many learn different traditions for wedding preparation from rituals related to the engagement itself to the way the ceremony should be conducted, and lets not forget the celebration after the ceremony, the reception. Although two may be deeply in love and maybe not even care about whose traditional values are incorporated into all of this, the families of the bride and the groom will surely disagree (there’s always at least one from each side) and this is where the future newlyweds love will be tested.

Mix and match traditions to keep each other satisfied

Wedding Tip #1: Before talking to your family about how your wedding will be planned discuss your traditions with each other. If your family tradition calls for a very elaborate ceremony consider scaling some parts down so your future spouse can incorporate parts of their own traditional values. Try to learn as much about the other person’s traditional wedding planning and if they don’t know much about it ask them about weddings they have attended in the past, such as what was done or what they noticed that they liked a lot. Your relatives, and theirs, are sure to ask you questions in the future about what you will be doing, so be prepared and learn about it now. You never want to give your future in-laws a bad impression before the ceremony even happens.

Without compromise some weddings can fall apart quickly

Wedding Tip #2 – Be ready to compromise. Quite often bridal planning involves creating a beautiful wedding ceremony where the bride or grooms culture is greatly reflected, and the reception afterward shows good faith to the other. For example, some brides use their tradition for the wedding ceremony itself and the grooms traditions are used for the reception, creating equality and satisfaction for those difficult in-laws who want it their way. If you do it this way, be sure to include explanation of what’s to come in your wedding program so guests understand what is to come, and in some cases what the guests should be prepared to do in case there is some interactivity involved.

Two wedding ceremonies in one day?

Wedding Tip #3 – Some bridal gatherings actually include two ceremonies.
Varying traditions can’t always be combined into one ceremony because both sides of traditions are just too far apart, or the families of both sides are known in advance to never agree on how things should be done. Although this can become costly rather quickly, and involve a lot more work and time on your part, the memories of both sides will surely last a lifetime. A simple example of this type of wedding planning would be the color of the bride’s dress. In this case a combination ceremony may never work. For example, one side may require the bridal dress to be red where the other only accepts white or ivory. Often today families accept anything the bride decides on but there are those who demand it be under their own values and traditions. If that’s the case with your wedding you may want to consider the additional ceremony at a later time (usually the same day though!) and then combine the reception traditions into one after both ceremonies are complete.

Wedding Tip #4 – Problems solved when it comes to who can pronounce you husband and wife. If each others traditions are close enough to combine except for the actual words that are said during the ceremony, or who is performing it, you might want to include officiating ministers in one ceremony. In this case, each performs their own part of the ceremony which brings satisfaction to each side. In addition, it makes the wedding unique and guests from both sides have a beautiful education experience to talk about during the dinner afterward.

Want to learn more about a some completely opposite popular traditions right now? Here are a few popular bits and pieces of marriage traditions from around the world that will help satisfy your curiosity.

Marriage with an African-American tradition

If you’re not familiar with Africa or traditions that come from there just remember this: The most practiced tradition is to “jump the broom” following the wedding ceremony. What’s the point of that you wonder? This jumping of the broom is a sign of crossing over the threshold into a new life where two have become one.

Marriage with that Scottish Flair

Although you may think Scotland is similar to other weddings you’ll quickly discover how different they do it. In a Scottish wedding ceremony there are no singers or recorded music. There’s no piano or brass instruments, and there’s no traditional organ playing “Here comes the bride”. Instead, the sound of bagpipes fill the air with maximum volume as a tribute to the bride and groom.

England, The land of the Queen

Why not bring your new marriage a boost of luck with some English wedding tradition. The bride places a sixpence coin in one shoe just before walking down the aisle to meet the groom, bringing luck and prosperity to their new life in marriage.

Moving over to Germany now, or should I say Deutscheland?

In German culture, men wear an engagement ring too. Their ring is always a plain gold band but all the woman know they are engaged to another to be married.

Throughout life, traditions are a direct connection to our past. By bringing together different traditions from both the bride and groom into your wedding offers a very unique and beautiful wedding ceremony that everyone will surely cherish for a lifetime.

Learning to compromise now is also important, because keeping a good marriage together and making your new spouse happy will involve many compromises that you will need to both make. If you can’t do it now you may have unforeseen problems in the future. Compromise is an enormous part of every marriage and makes it last.

Wedding favors express gratitude and are a unique way to give thanks to guests at any wedding reception. Here's a great way to choose the perfect wedding favors without breaking the budget.

It’s wedding time! All those people you have invited have set aside their time to celebrate your special wedding day with you. How can you properly thank them for attending your big event? Wedding favors are an offering of sincere thanks from the bride and groom to the guests at the wedding who traveled, sometimes far, just to share in that magical moment, the union of two.

Wedding favors offer a way for any newlywed couple to express appreciation in the form of a small gift, a token of appreciation. Many factors are involved when deciding just what exactly should be offered to the guests . It does not matter if your guest list is as small as a few, or as big as a thousand, because wedding favors are given at either the wedding reception for larger celebrations or the luncheon (or dinner) for small and simple gatherings. They can be placed on the tables in the reception hall before the guests arrive or passed out as guests enter the reception hall by the ushers. Some newlyweds even have a table set-up so guests can take a favor as they leave, or as they come in.

It is important to keep a good count on the guest list so you will know how many people will be attending. Traditional wedding planning is the most common with guest counts, where a reply card is included with each invitation so potential guests can let you know far in advance if they will be attending, and how many will be in their party. In most cases, if the guest list is small (under 60 attending) the wedding favor to be given will be more expensive and elegant. However, if you have many attending your reception after the ceremony you may need a lot more favors so you might want to go with the discount wedding favors that are less costly, because weddings are expensive and there are many other costs involved.

The wedding favors should be in your spending budget, noted on that piece of paper you’re using to arrange your budget, because they are a big part of a wedding, and often expected by guests who attend. Keep in mind, the wedding favor is a token of appreciation and guests will most certainly appreciate any small gift, it doesn’t have to be Swarovski crystal.

What’s your theme?
What is your wedding theme going to be? In the present day theme often plays a major part of the reception and guests never know what to expect when entering the reception hall. Remember that there are many theme wedding favors available that you can find to match your planned theme.

Let’s say that you and your spouse love the beach. You are true water babies. Wedding favors can take the form of seashells, little bottles of colored sand, a small pail with your wedding date stamped on it, or something else.

The traditional wedding reception will commonly feature more expensive favors, not extremely high-priced stuff, just a big more elegant and unique. It’s common practice where a guest will be given a mini picture frame that includes a photo of the couple inside (be creative and use place card holder frames to double as place cards). Another common item would be personalized favors or even small engraved gifts.

Tailoring the unique wedding favors to the theme makes choosing them a lot of fun for both bride and groom. Gifts are only limited by your own creativity and personal style.

Another item on the list that is certainly worth mentioning here is your wedding budget. If the budget is really tight (and for many in this economy it is, so don’t feel alone) you might want to consider homemade wedding favors that you design and create yourself. If time or creativity just doesn’t help you much here just keep it simple, such as disposable wedding cameras (usually in white) and low-cost photo albums. Simply offer each guest a photo album specifically for the pictures they’ll take at your wedding. Check out these inexpensive bride and groom photo albums for guests, they are as low as $1.20 and make a great impression.

If you are a bit artistic on the computer you can easily create unique yet traditional wedding decrees. Just roll them up like an old sea scroll style treasure map and secure them with a bit of fancy ribbon. Guests now have a bridal keepsake they can take home for their scrapbook or display cabinet and it’s certainly unique.

Wedding favors are by far the most popular and unique way for a bride and groom to express their gratitude to all the reception guests. Oh, and remember, they don’t have to be expensive or super elegant wedding favors to send that message of appreciation, just keep it simple because you have enough to worry about with all the other wedding planning to come.

Every couple wants unsurpassed wedding favors to match their personality. Couples who have a wedding in Las Vegas are not dissimilar. Here are various great ideas for Las Vegas ceremony favors to suggestions couples make easy decisions.

General Ceremony Favor Clues
Wedding favors have surpassed the term trend and have become commonplace among today’s weddings. Confetti soon transformed to Jordan almonds, which later evolved into the signature wedding favor for modern-day weddings. In the thirteenth century, almonds coated with sugar, known as confetti, were introduced. Choose something that appeals to a wide audience and your guests will be sure to appreciate your thoughtfulness. Traditionally, five Jordan almonds are presented in a confection box or wrapped in elegant fabric to represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness.

Camera Favors
Disposable cameras for weddings come in a wide variety of colors and themes to match the man and woman’s choice of colors and themes. Many guests enjoy bringing pictures at wedding receptions, so a great wedding favor can be a throwaway camera and a small photo album. Camera favors can be personalized with a couple getting married’s names and ceremony date. The camera can be used to capture candid moments from the reception and the album can protect those treasured snapshots for years to come.

Candle Ceremony Favors
Jar candles are a great wedding favor because they’re something that guests can take home and use again and again. Once the candles have been used, your guests can wash the jars and continue using them. The label on each candle can be customized with your names and ceremony date to remind guests of your special day. This is a great favor because its something guests can continue to use long after your reception and because you can choose from a wide variety of colors with unique scent.

Gifts for your Loved Ones
By extension the term gift can refer to anything that makes the other more happy or less sad, mainly as a favour, including forgiveness and kindness (even when the other is not kind).
Perfect Pair (Pear) Wedding Favors
You can remind your guests of your union long after your wedding reception is over by evaluating a wedding favor that is a pair of something. This gives your guests something they will use for years to come that will remind them of your wedding and various of the fun that was had at your reception. You can choose salt and pepper shakers, pairs of wine glasses, and other gifts that come in sets of two.

Basic Las Vegas Traditions
Ceremony Symbols? What’s that? — Children under 5 are unlikely to understand much of what’s going on and may decide to act inappropriately just as the vows are about to be exchanged. In a few cultures, same-sex weddings are celebrated. A white wedding is a formal or semi-formal ceremony in the United Kingdom, Ireland and United States, as well as Commonwealth, traditions.
